Last week we woke up to an unspeakable tragedy, and as usual, quilters jumped right in to help. I was compelled to make few block to send to the Orlando Modern Quilt Guild, along with some binding, and then a friend asked me why I was doing it. Why am I sending blocks? You know,Continue reading “Quilts for …..”

Pointed
Every so often I make a quilt that requires me to sew points at a bulky intersection. Over the years I have tried different things but find my best tip is to use pins. It seems counterintuitive, right? The pins will shift your points when you go through all the layers of fabric. Or willContinue reading “Pointed”
New Ironing Board (kinda)
About a year ago I replaced my ironing board. I wanted one that was wider and had a place to rest my iron. I searched a bit and found one. Unfortunately, I didn’t read the fine print about this particular ironing board – maybe I didn’t read at all? Â – it was made from anContinue reading “New Ironing Board (kinda)”
Warrior Quilt
An old friend of mine was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer last fall. I planned to make her a quilt to have while she was going through chemotherapy but I overcommitted. Well, that’s what I thought. It turns out I was severely vitamin D deficient and had NO energy. My doctor took my concernsContinue reading “Warrior Quilt”
More Scrap Quilts
I have been busy sorting and cutting my scraps. I have entirely too many. A friend of mine suggested I toss them. Can you believe that?! I scoffed that the idea. It did, however, encourage me to start using them. Maybe. I’m going on a quilt retreat in a few weeks so my plan isContinue reading “More Scrap Quilts”
All Squared Up
This quilt pattern of mine was featured on the Spring 2007 cover of Quilt Sampler magazine. It continues to be a favorite of mine. The quilt is quick and easy to put together and it creates interest by using a lot of different fabrics. Somewhere along the way I started to incorporate a lot ofContinue reading “All Squared Up”
Vintage Gone Kaffe
I’ve posted about this quilt a few times over the last several months. I thought I’d have this top finished before now but, alas, that wasn’t in the cards. I finished it yesterday and I’m beyond thrilled! This quilt was fun to piece, and I enjoyed working with colors that aren’t typically mine. I loveContinue reading “Vintage Gone Kaffe”
Piecing it Together
I was able to get the parts of my Kaffe quilt arranged last week and am in the process of sewing the top together. I still need to cut the setting triangles but that shouldn’t take much time. Besides, I have to sew the diagonal strips first so what a little more work, right? IContinue reading “Piecing it Together”
Vintage Quilt Goes Kaffe
I am slowly making progress on the vintage quilt that I am recreating in Kaffe Fassett fabrics. You can see it here. I’m pretty excited about how it is coming together, too. The quilt is basically 9-Patch blocks, Half-Square Triangles and squares. Once the hst’s are pieced the blocks go together quickly. woot! The blocksContinue reading “Vintage Quilt Goes Kaffe”
Propeller Quilt with Borders
After breakfast Saturday, I cleaned the kitchen then quietly disappeared to my sewing room. I was bound and determined to get borders on this quilt. Thrilled that it happened! I thought I was going to have a patchwork-ish or red border but it wasn’t working. Anyhow, I recently bought a half yard of the MustangContinue reading “Propeller Quilt with Borders”
